Traditional Copperplate Calligraphy for Beginners

Saturday, 21st March

https://www.calligraphybymoya.com.au/ to book this particular class

10 am - 1 pm

Places available: 8

What will you do? Learn how to choose the right paper, nib and ink, prepare your nib for use, load ink, hold the pen (correct hand position is everything!) and, most importantly, how to write the actual letters!

This class is structured around learning the basic strokes of the lowercase alphabet - once you master these, you can master anything. “I will correct your pen hold, tilt your hand, and show you how to control your ink flow.  You can spend hours watching videos in your own time;  what I'm here for is to make sure your hand, ink, and paper handling are setting you on the right path.”

Who is your teacher?:

One of Australia's most well-known and respected calligraphers and an industry leader and influencer worldwide, Moya is a traditionally trained artist. She has been studying for many years, including a two-year formal course through RMIT, regular workshops and lessons with the Calligraphy Society of Victoria, and online offerings from calligraphers globally. She has attended workshops with internationally famous calligraphers and Master Penmen, and she continues daily self-study and practice in a constant pursuit of excellence.
